Windansea Beach
Past La Jolla’s ritzy homes, boutiques, hotels and restaurants lies Windansea Beach which is flanked with surfers and sunbathers during the summer. The sandstone cliffs, sandy beach and great surf breaks, make Windansea a popular surfing place as far back as the 1940s. The shack on the beach was built by surfers during World War II, is now a historical site of San Diego.
Windansea is a great snorkeling and body surfing area. The north part of the beach is rocky and sandy, and a great place to enjoy a picnic in the grass next to the beach and take in the views of the Pacific Ocean.
There are no public restrooms and lifeguards are stationed during the summer and during the weekends in fall and spring. There is also no wheelchair access to the beach. Separate swim and surf zones are designated at this beach.
